What qualities do you require?

Patience and understanding

Non-judgmental attitude

Sense of humour

Good standard of literacy

Genuine desire to assist other adults


What commitment is required of you?

Completion of a Certificate In Adult Literacy Tutoring (CALT) - Level 5

Provision of at least one hour of tutoring each week (plus preparation and travel time)

A commitment of two years tutoring with ARAS upon completion of tutor training

Attendance at a minimum of three professional development workshops a year after completion of training

Preparation of 3-monthly reports on student’s progress (completed together with student)
