Mission Statement - He Koronga Whakatataki

To assist self-motivated adults with reading, writing, numeracy and other essential learning in order to empower them to achieve independence, attain their goals and fulfill their potential.

By EQUITY – Mana Kotahitanga – we mean:
Encouraging various programme design, delivery and promotion methods to ensure that those who have had less access to literacy have more opportunities to learn and to achieve their goals.
 
By CARING – Mana Manaakitanga – we mean:
Responding appropriately to the literacy needs of individuals and communities, while demonstrating concern for people’s well-being and personal autonomy.
 
By RESPONSIVENESS – Mana Reo – we mean:
Ensuring individual learning needs are periodically assessed and individual learning plan are develop to meet these needs and preferred learning styles
.
By ACCESSIBILITY – Mana Whenua – we mean:
Identifying barriers to learning and removing or reducing them. Barriers to learning might include, premises design and function, programme design and delivery, available resources, advertising and promotion of services, tutor training and availability.
 
By AWARENESS AND SENSITIVITY TO MANA MAORI: – Mana Wairuatanga – we mean
Being aware and sensitive to the values, needs and aspirations of Maori.
 
By QUALITY – Mana Atua – we mean:
Striving to achieve a high quality learning experience for all students and an optimum working environment for tutors and staff.
 
By EFFECTIVENESS – Mana Mauri – we mean:
Providing a service that is acceptable and accessible to students and which helps them to achieve their literacy and numeracy goals.
Ensuring that student needs and goals determine how the scheme deploys its resources.
